Thank you for visiting the homepage of the Korean Society for Indian Studies.

The KSIS established in 1991, is comprised of almost two hundred members from Korean and Indian academia, whose teaching and research focus on the region of South Asia, particularly India. As one of the most active academic societies in the field of area studies, the Society has taken pride in its academic independence as well as its financial security. In addition, the Society’s journal, The Journal of Indian Studies, has been acknowledged as a prestigious Registered Journal of the Korean Research Foundation from 2006.

Many people have contributed to the present achievement of Korean Society for Indian Studies. These include former presidents and officers and members who actively participated in the academic conferences of national and international levels. Special thanks go to chief editor and members of editorial board who continued to lead our academic journal. I want to express my gratitude to all the members who devoted their time and effort from their fields.

I believe my next step is to grow the society and solve any current issues in KSIS based on the accomplishments that all of the professors have achieved until now.

KSIS has now been established for 30 years, and has the responsibility to lead the discourse of domestic and international level on this emerging giant country, India, from broader fields, not limited to the academic relationship amongst the members. I wish we can continue to accomplish more tasks and responsibilities by cooperating with various relevant research institutions and organizations.

We sincerely hope to continue our contribution to enrich Indian and South Asian Studies by your continuous attention and participation.

Thank you.
