안녕하십니까?

지난 6월 10일 부산외국어대학교 트리니티홀에서 개최된 한국인도학회-부산외대 인도언어문화연구소-한국외국어대학교 인도연구소 공동학술대회 결과에 대해 간략히 보고 올립니다.

한국인도학회 총무이사 구하원 교수의 진행에 따라 한국인도학회 회장 이거룡 교수님(선문대)의 개회사와 부산외대 하수권 부총장님의 환영사로 개회식을 대신하였습니다.

이어 진행된 학술대회 순서에 따라 “인도 분단과 독립 70주년”을 기념하여 여러 선생님들의 다양한 연구발표와 토론이 이어졌습니다. 장재진 교수님(동명대)의 사회에 따라D.A.P. 샤르마 교수님(델리대학교)과 이지은 박사님(한국외대)께서 독립과 분단에 따른 예술의 표현과 이데올로기에 대해 발표하였으며, 장재진 교수님과 스리잔 꾸마르 교수님(부산외대)께서 심도 깊은 토론을 이끌어 주셨습니다. 두 개의 발표장에서 연이어 진행한 패널에서는 각각 이춘호 교수님(영산대)과 백좌흠 교수님(경상대)의 사회로 인도의 사상과 미디어에 대한 논의가 이루어졌습니다. 류현정 박사님(동국대)께서 스미스 교수님(서울대)의 까마수뜨라 발표를 대독한 후 논의하였으며, 과학사상에 대한 샤시 미스라 교수님(자르칸드 대학)의 발표는 D.K. 미스라 교수님(부산외대)께서 토론하여 주셨습니다. 힌디 대중영화와 힌디어 신문기사 제목을 각각 분석한 구하원 교수(서울대)와 고태진 교수님·손선경 박사님(부산외대)의 발표에 대해서는 마르텔리 박사님(킹스 칼리지)과 김용정 박사님(한국외대)께서 토론을 이끌어 주셨습니다. 학술대회를 마무리 지은 후 부산 명물 코다리찜과 문어회를 나누며 못다한 학술적 토론과 함께 즐거운 시간을 가졌습니다.

 학술대회가 성공적으로 개최될 수 있도록 많은 도움을 주신 부산외대 인도언어문화연구소장 고태진 교수님과 한국외대 인도연구소장 이은구 교수님께 감사의 말씀을 전하며, 학회와 저녁 만찬을 지원하신 주한 인도대사관, 부산외대 코어사업단 인도언어문화연구소, 그리고 한국인도학회 부회장 장재진 교수님과 사단법인 향기로운 문화동행께도 깊은 감사 인사를 드립니다. 또한 학술대회 조직과 운영에 큰 역할을 하신 이지은 연구이사와 손선경 부산외대 인도언어문화연구소 책임연구원께도 감사 인사를 드립니다.무엇보다도 바쁘신 데에도 불구하고 다양한 발표와 토론을 통해 새로운 학술적 논의 대상들을 발견할 있도록 도와주신 여러 선생님들과 학술대회 준비 기간 내내 따뜻한 관심과 격려를 보내주신 한국인도학회 회원 여러분들께 다시 한 번 감사의 인사를 올립니다.

2017년 12월 개최 예정인 제 43차 한국인도학회 정기학술대회는 인도대사관의 후원으로 인도 독립 후 70년의 연구와 앞으로의 방향을 함께 되짚어보는 학술대회로 기획하고 있습니다. 논문 발표나 토론, 사회에 관심이 있으신 분들은 언제든지 학회에 알려주시길 부탁드립니다.

Report for the 42nd Conference of the Korean Society for Indian Studies (KSIS)

 The Korean Society for Indian Studies held its 42nd Regular Conference with the Institute of Indian Languages and Culture Studies, BUFS, and Institute of Indian Studies, Hankuk University of Foreign Studies (HUFS), on Saturday, June 10th, at the Trinity Hall, Busan University of Foreign Studies, Busan.

The Opening Ceremony began with opening remarks by Prof. Geo Lyong Lee (Sun Moon U), President of KSIS, and welcoming remarks were given by Dr. Su Gwon Ha, vice-President of BUFS; the ceremony was moderated by Prof Hawon Ku, General Secretary of KSIS.

The conference itself was comprised of various presentations including a main panel on “India: 70th Anniversary of Partition and Independence”. The first panel was moderated by Prof. Jae Jin Jang(Tong Myeong U). Prof. D.A.P Sharma (Delhi University) and Dr. Jieun Lee presented their researches on artistic representations and the ideology of Partition and Independence. Prof. Srijan Kumar and Prof. Jang led the discussion for the two papers. The following panels on Indian thoughts and media, held simultaneously in two rooms, were led by Profs. Choon-ho Lee(Young San U) and Jwa Heum Baek(Gyongsang U). Dr. Hyunjeong Ryu(Dongguk U) read a paper on the Kama Sutra by Prof. Smith (SNU) and provided comments, while Professor D.K. Mishra(BUFS) discussed Professor Shashi K. Mishra’s paper on Indian scientific thoughts(Jharkhand U). Two presentations on Hindi popular film and headlines of Hindi newspapers by Hawon Ku(SNU) and Taejin Koh·Sun Kyung Son(BUFS) were followed with discussions by Dr. Jean-Thomas Martelli (King’s College) and Dr. Yong Jung Kim (HUFS). The conference ended with a dinner where most participants joined for further discussions on the papers and Indian studies in general.

We would like to thank Prof. Taejin Koh of BUFS and Prof. Lee Eun-gu, Director of the Institute of Indian Studies HUFS, for their heartfelt cooperation and support for the conference. In addition, we sincerely thank the Indian Embassy in Seoul, the CORE Project Group of BUFS, and Professor Jae Jin Jang and the Fragrant Cultural Companionship, Inc. for their financial support of the Conference. The conference would not have been possible without the hard work of Dr. Jieun Lee, Officer for Research, and Dr. Sun Kyung Son, head researcher for IILCS, BUFS. Most of all we thank all participants of the conference, as well as our members, scholars and students who gathered from various universities to listen to the proceedings.

We hope to see you again in December 2017 for our 43rd Regular Conference, in which we will be discussing Indian studies since Independence with the support of the Indian Embassy.
