존경하는 한국인도학회 회원 여러분께,
안녕하십니까?
지난 6월 10일 동명대학교에서 거행된 (사)한국인도학회·인도연구소 HK+사업단·동명대학교 인도문화연구소 공동학술대회 및 (사)한국인도학회 제54차 정기학술대회에 대해 간략한 보고 올립니다. 이번 학술대회는 <변화와 전통 사이: 인도의 어제와 오늘>이라는 주제로 두 개의 패널을 준비하였습니다.
개회식은 (사)한국인도학회 회장 이은구 교수님의 개회사와 동명대학교 인도문화연구소 소장 장재진 교수님의 환영사로 시작하였으며, (사)향기로운 문화동행 이사장 보혜스님의 축하 말씀과 (사)한국판소리보존회 경남 마산지부장 양효련 선생님의 축하 공연이 이어졌습니다.
이어 진행된 학술대회 순서는 두 패널로 나뉘어 진행되었습니다. 인도의 경제와 정치를 살핀 첫 번째 패널(좌장 이순철, 부산외대)에서는 한류문화콘텐츠 호감도가 국가이미지에 미치는 영향(이지은, 한국외대: 토론 정무섭, 동아대)와 인도의 균형 외교 전략 분석(이병진, 동명대: 토론 지연정, 한국외대)에 대한 연구가 소개되었습니다. 이어 인도의 사상과 문학을 다룬 두 번째 패널(좌장 장재진, 동명대)에서는 바가바드 기따의 ‘내적 포기’와 ‘제어의 라이프스타일’(박효엽, 부산대: 토론 윤종갑, 동아대)와 고대 인도의 궁정 세계와 나따까 전통(Aditi Singh, 한국외대: 토론 이동원, 서울대), 자이나교의 젠더와 섹슈얼리티론(양영순, 동국대: 토론 최경아, 강릉원주대)에 대한 발표와 토론이 이루어졌습니다. 학술대회가 끝날 때까지 많은 분이 함께해 주셨으며, 저녁 식사 자리까지 열띤 학술의 장이 이어질 수 있었습니다.
이번 학술대회가 성공적으로 개최될 수 있도록 공동으로 주최한 동명대학교 인도문화연구소와 한국외국어대학교 인도연구소 HK+사업단에 깊은 감사의 말씀을 전하며, 후원을 아끼지 않은 한국연구재단에도 감사를 드립니다. 또한, 알찬 프로그램의 학술대회가 될 수 있도록 노력해주신 이춘호 (사)한국인도학회 연구이사님께도 감사의 말씀을 전합니다. 무엇보다도 바쁘신 와중에도 다양한 발표와 토론을 통해 새로운 학술적 논의 대상들을 발견할 수 있도록 도와주신 여러 선생님과 학술대회 준비 기간 내내 따뜻한 관심과 격려를 보내주신 학회원 여러분께 다시 한 번 감사의 인사를 올립니다.
아울러 10월 말 출간 예정인 『인도연구』 제28권 2호에 많은 투고를 부탁드리며, 12월 개최 예정인 제55차 (사)한국인도학회 정기학술대회에도 여러분의 큰 관심과 성원을 부탁드립니다.
마지막으로, (사)한국인도학회는 학회원 여러분의 관심과 지원으로 운영을 하고 있습니다. 학회 홈페이지(indology.co.kr)에서는 학회 연회비, 혹은 학회 기부금을 보내실 수 있는 계좌를 공유하고 있으며, 지정기부금 단체로서 연말정산 시 기부금 세제 혜택을 받으실 수 있는 기부금 영수증도 발행해드리고 있습니다. 무덥고 뜨거운 여름, 회원 선생님들 모두 건강하시고 원하는 많은 일들 이루시기를 기원하겠습니다.

Dear Members of the Society,
The Korean Society for Indian Studies held its 54th Regular Conference on Saturday, June 10th, at Tongmyong University, Busan. Co-hosted with the Institute of Indian Studies HK+ Project, Hankuk University of Foreign Studies and the Indian Culture Research Institute, Tongmyong University, we prepared two panels on ‘Between Change and Tradition: India's Yesterday and Today.’
The Opening Remarks were delivered by Professor Lee Eun-Gu, President of the Korean Society for Indian Studies, followed by the Welcoming Remarks of Professor Jang Jae-Jin, President of the Indian Culture Research Institute. Ven. Bo-Hye, Chairperson of the Fragrant Cultural Accompany Foundation, presented the Congratulatory Remarks on the event, and Ms. Yang Hyo-Ryun, Head of Kyungnam-Masan Branch, the Korea Pansori Preservation Association, graced the event with her musical performance.
The Conference invited five presentations, which were divided into two panels. Following the title of “Economy and Politics of India”, the first panel (Chair Lee Soon-Cheul, BUFS) was comprised of two presentations on the Effect of the Likability of Hallyu Cultural Contents on the National Image (Lee Ji-Eun, HUFS: Discussant Jung Moo-Sup, Dong-A Univ.) and the Analysis of India's Balanced Diplomatic Strategy (Lee Byung-Jin, Tongmyong Univ.: Discussant Ji Yeon-Jung, HUFS). For the second panel, titled “Philosophy and Literature of India”(Chair Jang Jae-Jin, Tongmyong Univ.), three papers on respectively Inner Renunciation and Lifestyle of Control in Bhagavad-gītā (Park Hyo-Yeop, PNU: Discussant Yun Jong-Gab, Dong-A Univ.), Courtly World and the Nāṭaka Tradition in Early India (Aditi Singh, HUFS: Discussant Lee Dong-Won, SNU), and Jain's Gender and Sexuality Theory (Yang Young-Sun, Dongguk Univ.: Discussant Choi Kyung-Ah, Gangneung-Wonju Nat’l Univ.) were presented. Following the panels, members and presenters were able to further discuss the presentations and research over dinner.
We would like to thank our co-hosts, the Institute of Indian Studies HK+ Project, Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, the Indian Culture Research Institute, Tongmyong University, as well as the National Research Foundation of Korea for their generous support of the conference. We also applaud the efforts of Prof. Lee Choon-Ho, Officer of Research, for organization of the program. Most of all, we thank all participants of the conference, as well as scholars and students who gathered from various universities to listen and contribute to the proceedings.
We look forward to seeing your work in the new issue of the Journal of Indian Studies, to be published in October 2023, and hope to meet you at our 55th Regular Conference, planned for December 2023.
