제49차 학술대회 보고 Report for 49th Conference

안녕하십니까?

12월 12일 온라인에서 거행된 (사)한국인도학회·한국외대 인도연구소 HK+사업단 공동학술대회 및 (사)한국인도학회 제49차 정기학술대회에 대해 간략한 보고 올립니다.

개회식은 한국인도학회 회장 이거룡 교수님(선문대)의 개회사와 함께 김찬완 한국외대 인도연구소 HK+사업단장의 환영사, 소누 뜨리베디 스와미비베카난다 주한인도문화원장님의 축사가 있었습니다.

이어 진행된 학술대회 순서는 두 개의 패널로 나뉘어 진행되었습니다. 첫 패널(좌장 정채성, 한국외대)에서는 변화하는 인도의 도시를 주제로 삼아 꼬치(Kochi)의 거리풍경과 여성의 삶(김영진, 델리대; 논평 김경학, 전남대)과 인도의 도시화와 주택정책에 대한 발표(김미수, 한국외대; 논평 이순철, 부산외대)가 진행되었습니다. 두 번째 패널은 인도의 여성·정치·법을 주제로 백좌흠 교수님(경상대)의 진행으로 이루어졌습니다. 아이콘으로서의 인디라 간디(박금표, 한국외대; 논평 이지은, 세종대), 인도의 쇠고기 타부문화(상연진, 한국외대; 논평 이춘호 한국외대), 인도와 한국의 헌법(강경선, 한국방송통신대; 논평 고문현, 숭실대)에 대한 발표와 토론이 이루어졌습니다.

정기총회에서는 전임학회장 임근동 교수님(한국외대)께 공로패를 수여하는 순서가 있었으며, 학회운영 및 『인도연구』, 학술대회, 재무보고와 이에 대한 감사가 진행되었습니다. 특히, 이번 9월에 『인도연구』가 한국연구재단 등재학술지 평가를 우수한 성적으로 통과하여 앞으로 6년간 등재지 유지를 하게 되었음을 회원 여러분께 알립니다. 마지막으로 차기 학회장 선거 결과에 따라, 최종찬 교수님(한국외대)께서 사단법인 한국인도학회장으로 선출되었습니다. 신임학회장 선출을 축하드리며, 2021년 1월 1일부터 새로 시작하는 학회장 및 임원진의 활동을 많이 성원해주시기 바랍니다.

이번 학술대회가 성공적으로 개최될 수 있도록 공동으로 주최한 한국외국어대학교 인도연구소 HK+사업단에 깊은 감사의 말씀을 전하며, 후원을 아끼지 않은 한국연구재단에도 감사를 드립니다. 또한 알찬 프로그램의 학술대회가 될 수 있도록 노력해주신 이지은 한국인도학회 연구이사님께도 감사의 말씀을 전합니다. 바쁘신 데에도 불구하고 축사를 위해 방문하신 뜨리베디 주한인도문화원장님과 다양한 발표와 토론을 통해 새로운 학술적 논의 대상들을 발견할 있도록 도와주신 여러 선생님들, 학술대회 준비 기간 내내 따뜻한 관심과 격려를 보내주신 한국인도학회 회원 여러분들께 다시 한 번 감사의 인사를 올립니다.

학술대회에서 배포할 예정이었던 자료집과 『인도연구』 25권 2호는 요청하시는 경우 우편으로 보내드리거나, 홈페이지에서 다운로드(indology.co.kr) 받으실 수 있습니다. 이번 『인도연구』는 파키스탄의 금융과 아유르베다에서 논하는 감각기능과 질병의 관계 등 흥미진진한 논문을 싣고 있습니다. 이번 학회를 대면으로 진행할 경우 같이 배포하고자 하였던 『인도연구』 25권 1호 역시 필요하신 분께서는 곧 발송될 학회간사 이메일에 답신을 주시면 같이 보내도록 하겠습니다.

마지막으로 차기 학회장 선거 결과에 따라, 최종찬 교수님(한국외대)께서 사단법인 한국인도학회장으로 선출되었으며, 학회 감사로 박금표 교수님(한국외대)께서 선출되었습니다. 신임학회장과 감사 선출을 축하드리며, 2021년 1월 1일부터 새로 시작하는 학회장 및 임원진의 활동을 많이 성원해주시기 바랍니다.

Report of the Korean Society for Indian Studies

Dear Members of the Society,

We are sending a short report for the 49th Regular Conference of the Korean Society for Indian Studies, Inc., held online on Saturday, December 12th, and co-hosted with the Institute of Indian Studies HK+ Project, Hankuk University of Foreign Studies.

The Opening Remarks were delivered by Professor Geo-Lyong Lee(Sun Moon U), President of the Korean Society for Indian Studies, followed by welcoming remarks of Professor Chanwahn Kim, Director of the HK+ Research Project, HUFS, and congratulatory remarks of Dr. Sonu Trivedi, Director of the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre, Seoul.

The Conference itself was comprised of two panels. The first panel(Chair Jeong, Chae-sung, HUFS) was comprised of two presentations on the changing cities of India, with presentations on the street landscapes of Kochi and women’s lifes (Kim, Young Jin, Delhi U.; Discussant Kim, Kyung-Hak, Chonnam National U.) and urbanization and housing policies in India (Kim, Misu, HUFS; Discussant Lee, Soon-Cheul, BUFS). Three papers were presented for the second panel on Indian Women, politics and law, which was chaired by Professor Emeritus Jwa-heum Baek(Gyeongsang National U.). The presentations discussed Indira Gandhi as an icon in regard to her gender(Park, Geum-Pyo, HUFS; Discussant Lee, Ji Eun, Sejong U.), bovine politics in India (Sang, Yeonjin, HUFS; Discussant Lee, Choon-ho, HUFS), and a comparison on the constitutions of India and Korea (Kang, Kyong-Son, KNOU; Discussant Koh, Moon-Hyun, Soongsil U.).

The following Regular Meeting of Members began with presentation of a plaque of Appreciation to our former president, Professor Geun-dong Lim (HUFS). Apart from reports of regular activities of the Society, we would also like to announce that our journal, Journal of Indian Studies, passed the renewal process of the National Research Foundation with flying colors, and will be published as an Accredited Journal for the next six years. The meeting concluded with an election for our next president, and I would like to present Professor Jong-chan Choi(HUFS) as our next president for the Korean Society for Indian Studies. We sincerely congratulate his election, and look forward to the work of Professor Choi and his officers beginning January 1st, 2021.

We thank our co-host, the Institute of Indian Studies HK+ Project, Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, as well as the National Research Foundation of Korea for their generous support of the conference. We also applaud the efforts of Dr. Jieun Lee, Officer of Research, for organization of the program. Most of all we thank Dr. Trivedi, who visited to deliver her remarks, and all participants of the conference, as well as scholars and students who gathered from various universities to listen and contribute to the proceedings.

You may request printed copies of the proceedings or Issue 2 of Volume 25 of the Journal of Indian Studies, which would have been distributed at the conference. Otherwise, they can be downloaded from our homepage, indology.co.kr. This issue of the JIS includes articles on major financial variables in Pakistan, as well as the relationship between sensory organs and diseases according to the Ayurveda. If you would prefer a hard copy of Issue 1, which was planned to be distributed at this winter conference, please respond to our secretary’s email, which will be sent out soon.

The meeting concluded with an election for our next president and auditor, and I would like to present Professor Jong-chan Choi(HUFS) as our next president, and Dr. Kyumpyo Park as our next auditor for the Korean Society for Indian Studies. We sincerely congratulate them, and look forward to the work of Professor Choi and his officers beginning January 1st, 2021.
