안녕하십니까?

지난
6월 11일 선문대학교 아산캠퍼스 본관 국제회의실에서 개최된
한국인도학회-선문대학교 글로컬통합대학원-한국외국어대학교 인도연구소
공동학술대회 결과에 대해 간략히 보고 올립니다.

개회식은
인도학회 총무이사 구하원 교수의 진행에 따라 한국인도학회 회장 임근동 교수님(한국외대)과 부회장 이거룡 교수님(선문대)의
개회사와 환영사와 함께, 인도연구원장 곽창호 포스코 경영연구원장님의 축사로 이루어졌습니다.

이어
진행된 학술대회 순서는 통합 패널 후 두 개의 패널로 나뉘어 여러 선생님들의 다양한 연구발표와 토론이 이루어졌습니다. 인도에 대한 학회원들의 다양한 관심사와 연구분야를 반영한 대주제 “요가, 경제, 힌두전통”하에
발표자 및 토론자를 주제에 따라 구성하였으며, 3개의 패널에 총 10개의
주제 발표와 열띤 토론이 진행되었습니다. 첫 패널은 황용식 선생님(철학
명상연구자)의 사회에 따라 이거룡 교수님(선문대), 김선미 박사님(선문대), 조혜경
선생님(선문대), 그리고 성청환 교수님(동국대)의 발표로 이루어졌으며, 김재권
교수님(능인불교대학원)과 문을식 교수님(서울불교대학원)께서 심도 깊은 토론을 이끌어주셨습니다. 두 번째 패널은 주제에 따라 두 개의 발표장으로 나누어 진행하였으며, 이순철
교수님(부산외대)의 사회에 따라 경제와 기업을 주제로 김미수
박사님(한국외대)과 신민하 박사님(한국외대)의 발표가 있었습니다. 이에
대해 각각 이대우 박사님(포스코경영연구원)과 이한상교수님(영산대)께서 토론을 해주셨습니다. 제2발표장에서는 박금표 교수님(한국외대)의
사회에 따라 라마야나와 힌두 전통을 주제로 하는 세 개의 논문이 발표되었습니다. 임근동 교수님(한국외대)의 발표와 함께, 이동원(한국외대)과 김정숙(한국외대) 학문후속세대 두 분의 연구에 대하여 심재관 교수님(상지대)과 김영진박사님(델리대)의
토론이 있었습니다. 학술대회를 마무리 지은 후 외암리 민속마을로 이동하여 못다한 학술적 토론과 함께
식사를 하며 즐거운 시간을 가졌습니다.

학술대회가
성공적으로 개최될 수 있도록 많은 도움을 주신 이거룡 부회장님과 인도연구소 이은구 소장님께 감사의 말씀을 전하며,
저녁 만찬을 지원하신 선문대학교 황선조 총장님과 인도연구원 곽창호 원장님께도 깊은 감사 인사를 드립니다. 또한 학술대회를 포함하여 학회 운영에 큰 도움을 주신 주한인도대사관 비끄람 도레스와미 대사님 및 직원들께도
감사의 말씀을 전합니다. 무엇보다도 바쁘신 데에도 불구하고 다양한 발표와 토론을 통해 새로운 학술적
논의 대상들을 발견할 있도록 도와주신 여러 선생님들과 학술대회 준비 기간 내내 따뜻한 관심과 격려를 보내주신 한국인도학회 회원 여러분들께 다시
한 번 감사의 인사를 올립니다.

2016년 12월 개최 예정인 제 41차 한국인도학회 정기학술대회에서는 암베드까르 탄생 125주년을 기념하는
패널과 함께 현대 인도의 다양한 면모를 살펴보고자 합니다. 논문 발표나 토론, 사회에 관심이 있으신 분들은 언제든지 학회에 알려주시길 바라며, 특히
제 41차 학술대회 후 신임회장 선거가 있는 총회가 개최될 예정이오니 많은 학회원들의 관심과 성원을
부탁 드립니다.

The
Korean Society for Indian Studies held its 40^th Regular Conference with
the Glocal Graduate School of Sun Moon University and Institute of Indian
Studies, Hankuk University of Foreign Studies (HUFS), on Saturday, June 11^th,
at the International Conference Room, Sun Moon University, Asan.

The
Opening Ceremony was moderated by Pro.f Hawon Ku, Secretary of KSIS, with welcoming
remarks by Prof. Lim Geun-dong(HUFS), President of KSIS, and Prof. Geo Lyong
Lee(Sun Moon U), Vice-President of KSIS. Congratulatory Remarks were given by
Dr. Kwag Changho(POSRI), President of the Institute of Indian Studies Korea.

The
conference itself was comprised of one common panel and two following panels
with altogether ten presentations. The title of the conference, “Yoga,
Economics, and the Hindu Traditions”, reflected the various themes and
interests of our members. The common panel on yoga, asceticism, and healing was
moderated by Dr. Hwang Yong-Shik (Independent scholar on philosophy and
meditation). In this panel, Prof. Lee Geo-Lyong (Sun Moon University), Dr. Kim
Sun-mi (Sun Moon University), Cho Hye-Kyung (Sun Moon University) and Prof. Seong
Cheong-Hwan (Dongguk University) presented their current research, and Prof. Kim
Jae-Kwon (Nung-in Graduate School of Buddhist Studies) and Prof Moon Eul-Sik
(Seoul University of Buddhism) led the discussion. The following panel on Economics
and Corporations was led by Prof. Lee Soon-chul (Busan University of Foreign
Studies). Two presentations by Dr. Kim Misu (HUFS) and Dr. Shin Minha were
followed with discussions by Prof. Lee Daewoo (POSRI) and Prof. Lee Han-sang
(Youngsan University). In the second room, three presentations were given on
the Ramayana and Hindu traditions. After Prof. Lim Geun-dong (HUFS) gave his
presentation, two PhD candidates, Lee Dong-won and Kim Jeong-sook, gave
summaries of their research. Prof. Shim Jae-gwan (Sangji University) and Dr. Kim
Young-jin (Delhi University) led the discussions of the papers. The conference
ended with a dinner at Oeam Folk Village, where most participants joined for
further discussions on the papers and Indian studies in general.

We
would like to thank Prof. Lee Geo-Lyong of Sun Moon University and Prof. Lee
Eun-gu, Director of the Institute of Indian Studies HUFS, for their heartfelt cooperation
and support for the conference. In addition, we sincerely thank Dr. Sun-jo
Hwang, President of Sun Moon University, and Dr. Kwag Changho, POSRI, for their
support of the Conference Dinner. The Indian Embassy in Korea has also lent
financial support to the Korean Society for Indian Studies, and we thank His
Excellency Mr. Vikram Doraiswami and the staff for their ongoing sponsorship of
the Society. Most of all we thank all participants of the conference, as well
as our members, scholars and students who gathered from various universities to
listen to the proceedings.

We
hope to see you again in December 2016 for our 41^st Regular Conference,
in which we will be discussing among various topics, the legacies of Dr. B.R.
Ambedkar following the 125^th Anniversary of his birth. Please let us
know if you would be interested in forming a panel, presenting a paper, or
acting as moderator/discussant. Following the Regular Conference, we will be
electing a new board at the General Meeting, and we hope to see all members
