38차 정기학술대회 보고/Report for the 38th Regular Conference of KSIS

안녕하십니까?

지난 6월 13일 경북대학교 우당교육관에서 개최된 제 38차 한국인도학회 정기학술대회 결과에 대해 간략한 보고 올립니다.

개회식은 한국인도학회 회장 임근동 교수(한국외국어대학교)의 개회사와 경북대학교 아시아연구소 소장 임대희 교수님의 환영사로 시작하였습니다.

이어 진행된 학술대회 순서는 4개의 패널로 나뉘어 여러 선생님들의 다양한 연구발표와 토론이 이루어졌습니다. 각 패널은 알록 로이 교수님 (부산외국어대학교)과 백좌흠 교수님 (경상대), 송정란 교수님 (건양대), 박상우 교수님 (경북대)의 사회로 ‘오늘의 인도: 다양한 시각, 변화하는 세계’라는 주제를 두고 총 7개의 주제 발표와 열띤 토론이 진행되었습니다.

이번 학술대회에서는 인문학과 함께 사회과학과 지역학을 어우르고자 하여 두 강의실에서 패널을 동시에 진행하였습니다. 남아시아의 이슬람 사상과 언어를 중심으로 한 첫 패널은 크쉬슈토프 이와넥 교수님(한국외대)과 월터 하칼라(뉴욕주립대) 교수님의 발표로 이루어졌으며, 이춘호 교수님(영산대)과 고태진 교수님(부산외대)께서 토론을 이끌어 주셨습니다. 곧 이어 진행된 패널에서는 텍스트에 나타나는 한국과 인도라는 주제로 손선경 박사님(네루대)과 산또쉬 꾸마르 란잔 교수님(네루대)의 흥미로운 발표가 있었습니다. 발표자 선생님들과 함께 이은구 교수님(한국외대)과 김용정 박사님(한국외대)께서 적극적인 토론을 진행하여 주셨습니다.

인도기업연구를 주제로 한 두 번째 패널에서는 김우성 교수님(건국대)의 발표가 있었으며, 이에 대해 이한상 교수님(영산대)께서 적극적인 토론을 진행하여 주셨습니다. 또한 이번 학술대회부터는 학문후속세대 패널을 따로 마련하여 최근 연구경향과 신진학자들을 소개하는 장을 마련하였습니다. 학문후속세대 패널은 인도의 대외정책이라는 주제로 라지브 꾸마르 박사(성균관대)와 유경완 선생님(한국외대 박사수료)의 발표가 있었습니다. 이에 대해 이지은 선생님(한국외대 박사수료)과 박선영교수님(경북대)께서 각각 토론을 이끌어 주셔서 국내외 학자들 간의 교류를 더욱 공고히 하고 학회 발전에 대한 다양한 의견이 개진될 수 있었습니다.

이번 학술대회 장소를 제공하시고 후원을 아끼지 않은 경북대학교 아시아연구소장 임대희 교수님께 감사를 드리며, 늘 학회를 위하여 재정과 인력을 지원하는 한국외국어대학교 인도연구소 소장 이은구 교수님께도 감사의 말씀을 전합니다. 또한 알찬 프로그램의 학술대회가 될 수 있도록 노력해주신 이지은 한국 인도학회 연구이사님께도 감사의 말씀을 전합니다.

무엇보다도 바쁘신 데에도 불구하고 다양한 발표와 토론을 통해 새로운 학술적 논의 대상들을 발견할 있도록 도와주신 여러 선생님들과 학술대회 준비 기간 내내 따뜻한 관심과 격려를 보내주신 한국인도학회 회원 여러분들께 다시 한 번 감사의 인사를 올립니다. 2015년 12월 12일 개최 예정인 제 39차 한국인도학회 정기학술대회에도 많은 관심과 성원을 부탁드리며, 혹 패널이나 발표, 사회, 토론에 관심이 있으신 경우 언제든지 연락하여 주시기를 부탁 드립니다.

Report for the 38th Regular Conference of the Korean Society for Indian Studies

The Korean Society for Indian Studies held its 38th Regular Conference on Saturday, June 13th, 2015, at Woodang Educational Hall of Kyungpook National University, Daegu.

The Opening Remarks was delivered by Prof. Geundong Lim, President of the Korean Society for Indian Studies, followed by Welcoming Remarks of Prof. Daeheui Lim, Director of Center of Asian Studies, Kyungpook National University. The Conference itself was comprised of four panels led by Professors Alok Roy(BUFS), Jwaheum Baek(Gyeongsang National University), Jeongran Song (Konyang University) and Sangwoo Park(KNU), with a focus on the multiple perspectives in a shifting world.

For this Conference, in order to accommodate requests for more papers in social sciences as well as area studies, we held two simultaneous panels in adjacent rooms. The first panel concentrated on Islam in South Asia, with a focus on ideas and language. Prof. Kryzsztof Iwanek(HUFS) and Prof. Walter N. Hakala(SUNY) presented their recent research, with Profs. Choonho Lee(Youngsan University) and Taejin Koh(BUFS) acting as discussants. In the third panel, studies of texts on Korea and India were discussed with Dr. Kyungson Sun(JNU) and Professor Santosh Kumar Ranjan(JNU). Prof. Eungu Lee(HUFS) and Dr. Yongjeong Kim (HUFS) led the discussion for these presentations.

Studies of Indian coporations was the topic of the second panel, with a presentation by Professor Woosung Kim(Konkuk University). Discussions were led by Prof. Hansang Lee(Youngsan University). We also organized a panel for Junior Scholars, in which India's foreign policy was the main topic. Dr. Rajiv Kumar(Sungkyunkwan University) and Kyeongwan Yoo(HUFS, ABD) presented sections of their dissertations, with Professor Sunyoung Park (KNU) and Jieun Lee (HUFS, ABD) acting as discussants. We hope to see their work published in the near future.

We sincerely thank Professor Daeheui Lim and the Center for Asian Studies at Kyungpook National University, for providing the venue and financial support for the conference. We also thank Professor Eungu Lee and the Institute of Indian Studies, Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, for their financial support, as well as the efforts of Dr. Jieun Lee, Officer of Research, for organization of the program.

Most of all we thank all participants of the conference, as well as scholars and students who gathered from various universities to attend the conference.
