제36차 정기학술대회 보고 / Report on the 36th Regular Conference

안녕하십니까?

지난 6월 14일 건양대학교 대전캠퍼스 명곡의학관에서 개최된 제36차 한국인도학회 정기학술대회 결과에 대해 간략한 보고 올립니다.

개회식은 한국인도학회 회장 임근동 교수님(한국외국어대학교)의 개회사와 전 한국인도학회장 라윤도 교수님(건양대학교)의 환영사로 시작하였습니다.

이어 진행된 학술대회 순서는 3개의 패널로 나뉘어 여러 선생님들의 다양한 연구발표와 토론이 이루어졌습니다.

각 패널은 백좌흠 교수님(경상대)과 이거룡 교수님(선문대), 송정란 교수님(건양대)의 사회로 '변화하는 인도경제', '인류학의 시선으로 본 남아시아', '인권과 핵'이라는 주제를 두고 총 7개의 주제 발표와 열띤 토론이 진행되었습니다.

인도 경제를 중심으로 한 첫 패널은 이명무 교수님(홍익대)과 이한상 교수님(영산대), 라지브 꾸마르 박사님(성균관대)의 발표로 이루어졌으며,

인류학적 접근을 주제로 하였던 두 번째 패널에서는 박정석 교수님(목포대)과 김영진 박사님(델리대)께서 네팔의 림부종족과 델리의 거리 풍경에 대해 각각 흥미로운 발표를 하셨습니다.

마지막 패널은 인권과 핵을 주제로 하여 강경선 교수님(한국방송통신대)과 지연정 박사님(한국외대)의 발표가 있었습니다.

발표자 선생님들과 함께 박금표 교수님(HUFS)과 신민하 박사님(HUFS), 흐리데 나라얀 교수님(HUFS), 김경학 교수님(전남대), 이춘호 교수님(영산대),

싼자이 꾸마르 미슈라 교수님(델리대), 라윤도 교수님께서 심도 깊은 토론을 이끌어 주셔서 국내외 학자들간의 교류를 더욱 공고히 하고 인도학 및 학회 발전에 대한 다양한 의견이 개진될 수 있었습니다.

이번 학술대회가 성공적으로 개최될 수 있도록 도움 주신 라윤도 교수님과 재정적 지원을 아끼지 않은 한국외국어대학교 인도연구소에 감사의 말씀을 전합니다.

또한 알찬 프로그램의 학술대회가 될 수 있도록 노력해주신 이지은 한국인도학회 연구이사님께도 이 자리를 빌어 감사의 말씀을 전합니다.

무엇보다도 바쁘신 데에도 불구하고 다양한 발표와 토론을 통해 새로운 학술적 논의 대상들을 발견할 있도록 도와주신 여러 선생님들과

학술대회 준비 기간 내내 따뜻한 관심과 격려를 보내주신 한국인도학회 회원 여러분들께 다시 한 번 감사의 인사를 올립니다.

오는 12월 13일(토요일) 개최 예정인 제 37차 한국인도학회 정기학술대회에도 많은 관심과 성원을 부탁드립니다.

Report for the 36th Regular Conference of the Korean Society for Indian Studies

The Korean Society for Indian Studies held its 36th Regular Conference on Saturday, the 14th of June, 2014, at the Myong-Gok Medical Building of Konyang University, Daejeon.

Following the tradition of holding its summer conference in a regional city of Korea, this year the conference venue was selected by the Board of Officers to be Daejeon, the 5th largest city in South Korea as well as a hub for transportation, administration, and research.

Following the Opening Remarks of President Geun Dong Lim, Professor Yoon Dho Ra of Konyang University gave his welcoming remarks.

The conference itself was comprised of three panels, with a focus on the recent changes in India following the momentous election of May 2014.

The first panel concentrated on economics, with Professor Myung Moo Lee of Hongik University (Seoul), Professor Han Sang Lee of Youngsan University (Pusan), and Dr. Rajiv Kumar of Sungkyunkwan University (Seoul) discussing their current research. Anthropological approaches were discussed in the second panel, with Professor Jeong Seok Park of Mokpo University (Mokpo) and Dr. Young Jin Kim of Delhi University discussing the changes of the Limbu tribe in Nepal and the streetscapes of Delhi. The final panel focused on a more contemporaneous issue: human rights and nuclear rights, presented by Professor Kyung Sun Kang of the Korea National Open University (Seoul) and Dr. Yeon Jeong Ji (HUFS). With discussions following each presentation by established and junior scholars in each field, the papers presented engaging material to the participants, and we hope to see them in published form in the near future.

We would like to thank Professor Ra, for his University’s support, and the Institute of Indian Studies, Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, for their financial support. We also applaud the efforts of Dr. Jieun Lee, Officer of Research, for organization of the program. Most of all we thank all participants of the conference, as well as scholars and students who traveled far to listen to the proceedings. We hope to see you again on Saturday, December 13th, 2014 for our 37th Conference in Seoul, and please let us know if you would be interested in forming a panel, presenting a paper, or acting as moderator/discussant.
