안녕하십니까?

지난 6월 13일 토요일 동명대학교에서 개최된 (사)한국인도학회·한국외대 인도연구소·동명대 인도문화연구소 공동학술대회 및 (사)한국인도학회 제60차 정기학술대회에 대해 간략히 보고드립니다. 이번 학술대회는 <전환기의 인도: 자립·의례·상상력의 재구성과 새로운 존재 방식>이라는 주제로 진행되었습니다.

개회식은 이은구 (사)한국인도학회 회장님의 개회사와 이춘호 한국외국어대학교 인도연구소 소장님, 장재진 동명대학교 인도문화연구소 소장님의 환영사로 시작되었습니다. 이어 이응주 동명대학교 부총장님과 이태희 BTX 모빌리티 대표이사님의 축사가 있었으며, 반현우 동명대학교 교수님의 축하 공연이 더해져 행사의 의미를 한층 더 풍성하게 만들었습니다.

학술대회는 총 다섯 편의 발표가 두 개의 패널로 나뉘어 진행되었습니다. 첫 번째 패널(좌장 이춘호, 한국외대)에서는 “‘메이크 인 인디아(Make in India)’의 정치경제학: 인도 전자산업의 자립 없는 공급망 고도화 — 고드레지, 리브퓨어, BPL 사례를 중심으로”(발표 이병진, 인디아-코리아센터; 논평 김도연, 대외경제정책연구원)와 “떼이얌 의례: 실패한 영웅들의 작은 역사”(발표 김영진, 한국외대; 논평 신진영, 한국외대)가 발표되었습니다. 두 번째 패널(좌장 장재진, 동명대)에서는 “닫히지 않는 공존: 아룬다티 로이의 『지복의 성자』에 나타난 행성성”(발표 이동원, 한국외대; 논평 이지현, 한국외대), “정체성·언어·참여의 문제: 현대 힌디어 영화에 나타난 도시 공간(2000–2020)”(발표 미히르 빤댜, 한국외대; 논평 이동원, 한국외대), 그리고 2025-26 한국연구재단 학술지 지원사업 지원 발표인 “인식에서 존재로의 확립: 샹까라 철학에서 슈라바나·마나나·니디디야사나의 인식 구조와 전환 국면”(발표 박은선, 한국외대; 논평 박효엽, 부산대)이 진행되었습니다.

이번 학술대회가 원활하게 개최될 수 있도록 협력해 주신 공동 주최 기관인 한국외국어대학교 인도연구소와 동명대학교 인도문화연구소에 깊은 감사의 말씀을 드립니다. 또한 학술대회의 내실 있는 운영과 질적 향상을 위해 애써 주신 이춘호 (사)한국인도학회 연구이사님께도 감사드립니다. 아울러 귀중한 시간을 내어 발표와 토론에 참여해 주시고 학술적 논의를 더욱 풍성하게 만들어 주신 여러 선생님들께 깊이 감사드리며, 행사 준비 과정 전반에 걸쳐 지속적인 관심과 성원을 보내 주신 학회원 여러분께도 진심 어린 감사의 말씀을 전합니다.

Dear Members,

I would like to briefly report on the Joint Conference of the Korean Society for Indian Studies (KSIS), the Institute of Indian Studies at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies (HUFS), and the Indian Culture Research Institute at Tongmyong University, as well as the 60th Regular Conference of the Korean Society for Indian Studies, which was held at Tongmyong University on Saturday, 13 June 2026. The conference was organized under the theme, "India in Transition: The Reconfiguration of Self-Reliance, Ritual, and Imagination, and New Modes of Being."

The conference opened with the Opening Remarks delivered by Eungu Lee, President of the Korean Society for Indian Studies, followed by Welcoming Remarks from Choonho Lee, Director of the Institute of Indian Studies at HUFS, and Jaejin Jang, Director of the Indian Culture Research Institute at Tongmyong University. Congratulatory remarks were subsequently delivered by Eungjoo Lee, Vice President of Tongmyong University, and Taehee Lee, CEO of BTX Mobility. The opening session concluded with a congratulatory performance by Hyunwoo Ban, Professor at Tongmyong University.

The academic sessions consisted of five presentations organized into two panels. Session 1, chaired by Choonho Lee (HUFS), featured the presentations: "The Political Economy of 'Make in India': Supply Chain Upgrading without Self-Reliance in India’s Electronics Industry — Focusing on the Cases of Godrej, Livpure, and BPL" (Presenter: Byungjin Lee, India-Korea Center; Discussant: Doyeon Kim, KIEP) and "Theyyam Ritual: Little histories of Failed Heroes" (Presenter: Youngjin Kim, HUFS; Discussant: Jinyoung Shin, HUFS).

Session 2, chaired by Jaejin Jang (Tongmyong Univ.), included the presentations: "Coexistence beyond Closure: Planetarity in Arundhati Roy's The Ministry of Utmost Happiness" (Presenter: Dongwon Lee, HUFS; Discussant: Jihyun Lee, HUFS); "Questions of Identity, Language and Participation: Urban Space in Contemporary Hindi Cinema (2000–2020)" (Presenter: Mihir Pandya, HUFS; Discussant: Dongwon Lee, HUFS); and the presentation supported by the NRF Academic Journal Support Program, "From Cognition to Existential Realization: Śravaṇa, Manana, and Nididhyāsana in Śaṅkara’s Philosophy" (Presenter: Eunsun Park, HUFS; Discussant: Hyoyeop Park, PNU).

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the Institute of Indian Studies at HUFS and the Indian Culture Research Institute at Tongmyong University, our co-hosting institutions, for their generous cooperation, which made this conference possible. I would also like to extend my appreciation to Choonho Lee, Director of Research at KSIS, for his dedicated efforts in enhancing the academic quality and successful organization of the conference.

My heartfelt thanks also go to all presenters, discussants, and participants whose valuable contributions and lively discussions enriched our scholarly exchanges and broadened our academic horizons. I would further like to express my sincere appreciation to all KSIS members for their continued interest, encouragement, and support throughout the preparation and organization of this event.
