안녕하십니까? 초여름의 기운이 짙어지는 계절에, (사)한국인도학회가 한국외국어대학교 인도연구소, 동명대학교 인도문화연구소와 공동으로 마련한 공동학술대회 및 제60차 정기학술대회에 여러분을 모시게 되어 뜻깊게 생각합니다.

2026년 6월 13일 토요일 동명대학교에서 개최되는 이번 학술대회는 “전환기의 인도: 자립·의례·상상력의 재구성과 새로운 존재 방식”이라는 주제 아래, 오늘날 인도가 마주한 변화의 국면을 함께 살펴보고자 합니다. 자립의 이름으로 추진되는 산업 구조의 재편, 의례 속에 남겨진 주변화된 기억과 역사, 문학적 상상력이 열어 보이는 행성적 공존의 가능성, 영화가 포착하는 도시 공간과 정체성의 문제, 그리고 인식에서 존재로 나아가는 철학적 전환은 이번 학술대회의 주요 논의 지점을 이룹니다. 이번 발표와 토론이 동시대 인도를 하나의 변화 양상으로 단순화하기보다, 그 안에서 작동하는 다양한 역사적 경험과 사회적 관계, 문화적 표현과 사유의 방식을 함께 조망하는 계기가 되기를 기대합니다. 참석해 주시는 연구자 여러분의 심도 있는 논의를 통해 인도학 연구의 지평이 한층 넓어지기를 바랍니다.

Greetings. As the early summer season deepens, it is a great pleasure to invite you to the Joint Conference and the 60th Regular Conference of the Korean Society for Indian Studies (KSIS), in collaboration with the Institute of Indian Studies (IIS) at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies (HUFS) and the Institute of Indian Cultural Studies (ICRI) at Tongmyong University.

The conference will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at Tongmyong University under the theme “India in Transition: The Reconfiguration of Self-Reliance, Ritual, and Imagination, and New Modes of Being.” It seeks to examine the changing conditions that India faces today. The restructuring of industry pursued in the name of self-reliance, marginalized memories and histories preserved in ritual, the possibility of planetary coexistence opened up by literary imagination, questions of urban space and identity captured in cinema, and the philosophical transition from cognition to being will form the main axes of discussion at this conference. We hope that the presentations and discussions will provide an opportunity to view contemporary India not as a single, uniform process of change, but as a field in which diverse historical experiences, social relations, cultural expressions, and modes of thought intersect. We also hope that the thoughtful contributions of the participating scholars will further broaden the horizons of Indian Studies.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all presenters for sharing their valuable research, to those serving as discussants and session chairs, and to the members of our executive committee and the staff of both institutes whose dedicated efforts have made this event possible.
