제46차 학술대회 보고 Report on 46th Regular Conference

안녕하십니까?
 
지난 6월 8일 위덕대학교에서 거행된 (사)한국인도학회·인도연구소 HK+사업단·밀교문화연구원 공동학술대회 및 (사)한국인도학회 제46차 정기학술대회에 대해 간략한 보고 올립니다. 이번 학술대회는 최근 인도와 서구에서 활발하게 논의되고 있는 “딴뜨라: 원류와 현대적 재해석”라는 대주제 외 “인도의 대전환”을 주제로 삼아 패널을 준비하였습니다.
 
개회식은 한국인도학회 회장 이거룡 교수님(선문대)의 개회사와 위덕대학교 장익 총장님의 환영사로 시작하였으며, 김찬완 인도연구소 HK+사업단장(한국외대)과 권기현 밀교문화연구원장(위덕대)의 축하말씀이 이어졌습니다.
 
이어 진행된 학술대회 순서는 3개의 패널로 나뉘어 진행되었습니다. 첫 패널은 “딴뜨라의 불교적 전개”(좌장 구동현, 위덕대)를 살피는 패널로, 인도후기 밀교(정성준, 동국대; 토론 남승호, 동국대)와 네팔의 밀교(뿌슈빠 라뜨나 샤꺄, 뜨리부반 대하; 토론 권기현, 위덕대), 티벳의 밀교(석소남, 한국티벳불교사원 광성사; 토론 차상엽, 금강대), 중국 밀교의 심종실지법(김영덕, 위덕대; 토론 오태봉, 위덕대)에 대한 연구가 소개되었습니다. 두 번째 패널에서는 불교뿐 아니라 “인도의 딴뜨라 수행론”(좌장 임승택, 경북대)에 대한 발표들로 까쉬미르 샤이비즘과 베단따(김형준, 한국외대; 토론 심준보, 금강대). 스와라 요가 호흡법(김재민, 동국대; 토론 곽미자, 춘해대), 자이나교의 수행과 딴뜨라(김미숙, 동국대; 토론 이거룡)가 진행되었습니다. 세 번째 패널 “인도의 대전환”(좌장 임근동, 한국외대)에서는 인도의 2019 총선 분석(김찬완; 토론 최종찬, 한국외대)과 한국 언론에 나타난 인도의 이미지(신진영, 한국외대; 토론 이병진, 동명대), 불교 근본주의운동과 상가의 정치화: 미얀마와 스리랑카 비교(장준영, 한국외대; 토론 김한상, 한국외대)에 대한 발표와 토론이 이루어졌습니다. 학술대회가 끝날 때까지 많은 분들이 참여하셔서 저녁 식사와 커피를 나누며 회원들의 연구에 대해서도 많은 이야기를 나눌 수 있었습니다.
 
이번 학술대회가 성공적으로 개최될 수 있도록 공동으로 주최한 위덕대학교 밀교문화연구원과 한국외국어대학교 인도연구소 HK+사업단에 깊은 감사의 말씀을 전하며, 후원을 아끼지 않은 한국연구재단에도 감사를 드립니다. 또한 알찬 프로그램의 학술대회가 될 수 있도록 노력해주신 이지은 한국인도학회 연구이사님께도 감사의 말씀을 전합니다. 무엇보다도 바쁘신 데에도 불구하고 다양한 발표와 토론을 통해 새로운 학술적 논의 대상들을 발견할 있도록 도와주신 여러 선생님들과 학술대회 준비 기간 내내 따뜻한 관심과 격려를 보내주신 한국인도학회 회원 여러분들께 다시 한 번 감사의 인사를 올립니다.
 
2019년 10월말 출간 예정인 『인도연구』 24권 2호에 많은 투고를 부탁드리며, 12월 7일 개최 예정인 제 47차 한국인도학회 정기학술대회에도 학회원 여러분의 관심과 성원을 부탁드립니다.

Report of the Korean Society for Indian Studies
 
Dear Members of the Society,
 
The Korean Society for Indian Studies held its 46th Regular Conference on Saturday, June 8th, at Uiduk University, Gyungju, and we are sending a short report of the event. In addition to panels on the traditions of Tantrism that have been a major topic in India and the West, an additional panel was organized on the recent affects of the great transitions of India.
 
The Opening Remarks were delivered by Professor Geo-Lyong Lee(Sun Moon U), President of the Korean Society for Indian Studies, followed by Welcoming Remarks of Professor Jang Ik, President of Uiduk University. Professor Chanwahn Kim, Director of the HK+ Research Project, Institute of Indian Studies and Professor Kihyun Kwon, Director of the Institute of Esoteric Buddhism also presented congratulatory remarks on the event.
 
The Conference itself was comprised of three panels. The four presentations of the first panel(Chair Dong-hyun Koo, Uiduk U), i.e., the Epochal Project of the Buddhist order (Cheong, Seong-joon, Dongguk U; discussant Seung Ho Nam, Dongguk U), Vajrayana Buddhism in Nepal(Pushpa Ratna Shakya, Tribhuvan U; discussant Kihyun Kwon), Tibetan Tantrism(Geshe Lharampa Sonam Gyaltsen(Korea Tibet Center Gwangsungsa; discussant Sangyeob Cha, Geumgang U), and Chinese Esoterism(Kim, Youngduk, Uiduk U; discussant Oh, Tae Bong) presented a wide spectrum of “The Tantric Traditions of Buddhism.” Papers on Kashmir ?aivism and Ved?nta(Kim, Hyoung Jun, HUFS; discussant Sim, Junbo), Svara Yoga Pr???y?ma (Kim, Jae-min, Dongguk U; Discussant Kwak, Mija, Choonhae U), and Tantric traits in Jain rituals (Kim, Mi Suk, Dongguk U; discussant Lee, Geo Lyong, Sun Moon U), comprised the second panel on “Tantric practice in India”(Chair, Seung Taek Lim, Kyungpook U). For the third panel, titled “Great Transition of India”(Chair Geun-dong Lim, HUFS), three papers on respectively the 2019 Indian elections (Chanwahn Kim; discussant Jong-chan Choi, HUFS), the image of India in Korean media (Jinyoung Shin, HUFS; discussant Byung-jin Lee, Tongmyoung U), and Buddhist Ethno-Nationalism and Politicalization of the Sangha: A Comparative study on Myanmar and Sri Lanka (Jang, Jun Young, HUFS; discussant Kim, Han-sang, HUFS) were presented. Following the panels, members and presenters were able to further discuss the presentations and research over dinner and coffee.
 
We would like to thank our co-hosts, the Institute of Indian Studies HK+ Project, Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, the Institute for Esoteric Buddhism, Uiduk University, as well as the National Research Foundation of Korea for their generous support of the conference. We also applaud the efforts of Dr. Jieun Lee, Officer of Research, for organization of the program. Most of all we thank all participants of the conference, as well as scholars and students who gathered from various universities to listen and contribute to the proceedings.
